Begin right now to look at different areas of your life. Find the things in your life that you are truly grateful for such as your health, relationships, job, home etc. Even if these circumstances are not ideal you can find aspects of them that are pleasurable and areas where your life would not be as good without them. By creating a state of gratitude for what you have you will align yourself with positive feelings and positive thoughts. Not only will this make you feel much happier but you will also start to attract other things that will make you feel gratitude and happiness. Happiness is not the by-product of things that happen to you nor does it come from things that you experience or acquire. Real happiness is an inner state of being that you chose to embrace. This is Self Improvement and Personal Development at their foundations. Begin to release the past.

People have an immense capacity for learning. Unfortunately, most people do not utilize the overwhelming portion of this learning potential. At some point, many of us feel we have reached a plateau of stagnation. Whether it is the executive who is beginning to feel like he is stuck in a rut or the home maker with the picture perfect family who is beginning to wonder if this is all there is in life, the quest for personal development is in us all. Many people suffer from the misconception that self-improvement, involves building better self-esteem and not a whole lot more. There is also a tendency to disassociate personal development from an individual’s personal life. For instance, we assume that building on self worth, dealing with conflicts in relationships, enhancing our creative side are all “personal” in nature and have no bearing on our work. Nothing could be farther from the truth. A good training program teaches skills related to listening, learning, and growing that are just as relevant in the workplace as they are at home or in the company of friends.

This way you will continually raise your personal development motivation because you will see positive results. Always try to write down the deadline of the goal in your daily planner. You should keep referring to the deadline to keep your mind focused on accomplishing the goal on time. Try to develop a habit of taking action every day towards your goal. This will increase your personal development motivation because you will be proud of yourself by being so pro-active. This, of course, will also gradually lead to the accomplishment of the goal. You should stop doing activities that fail to get you closer to the goal (like watching TV or surfing internet). If you really cannot abandon activities as such, at least try to eliminate them from your life as often as you can. If you are really serious about progressing in life, you should mainly do things that get you closer to your goals and keep away from distractions.

Moms who are in the stagnant stage of personal development usually don’t exercise, feel sad without knowing why, and even wear the same clothes several times a week. Getting out of the stagnant stage starts with recognizing which areas of life you want to grow in and then making strides in those areas, whether it’s financial, work, health, hobbies, relational, personal, legacy, or spiritual. The second stage of personal development is motion, and moms who are in this stage are starting to move toward their goals. They understand the importance of personal growth, but they are not yet consistently meeting their goals. Moving on from the motion stage requires full knowledge of your goals and consistency in meeting those goals. The final stage of personal development is acceleration. Moms in this stage of growth are consistently achieving their dreams and moving faster toward the things they want out of life. Just remember that striving for your dreams is never selfish, even if you are a mom. Your kids are watching everything you do, and they will feel like they can do anything when they see mom achieving her goals.

The great majority of people believe that trying to attain their desires is a useless pursuit and could even damage their self confidence and self esteem. It is true that constant failure and the inability to reach your objectives can be damaging to your self belief. But, this can only occur if you allow it to happen. Why? Because, there is no such thing as failure – there is only giving up! When you say you will “try” to do something, you are holding the expectation that you may fail. No longer try to reach your objectives. Instead expect to reach them! In order to be successful with our personal development goals, or anything else in life, you must hold the expectation of success. When you begin to recondition yourself mentally you will hit resistance. As you keep telling yourself that you will be successful and begin to concentrate on the things that you do want your subconscious mind will rebel.
